Meeting of the Doodem was created for Luminato Festival Toronto 2023, debuting at Woodbine Weekend and travelling to locations across the city. The augmented reality experience gathers seven animals in a semicircle around the viewer, each named in Anishinaabemowin, each connected to a doodem, the clan system that organizes Anishinaabe kinship and responsibility. Woodland style painting has always shown the spirit world beside the everyday one. Here the phone becomes that lens, opening a view of the doodemag in the middle of the city.
